Day 1: Get some fresh air with a bike ride, picnic

There is nothing better to do on a beautiful sunny day than go for a bike ride with some friends and have a nice picnic at the park.

Go ahead and grab a bike, gather some friends, throw together some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and head out. Being out in the fresh air will be a nice awakening from being cooped up all winter, especially when the weather forecast says this glorious weather will not be around for much longer. So, go out and enjoy it while it is still here.

“Getting fresh air, going with friends and enjoying the scenery [is the best],” junior Sarah Brodesser said.

Hop on the Springwater Trail and go visit the nutrias, or even go all the way to the Clackamas Town Center. Taking the bridge over Powell will lead to the Columbia River, where the trail goes right along the waterside.

Take a break and eat lunch at the waterfront or a green patch along the way. Besides, it is a lot more fun to be out and about than sitting inside on the couch like a potato. It is an opportunity that only appears every so often this early in the year. Anyone can sit on the couch at any time, but not always is there a chance to go out and luxuriate in the sunshine.

“[The best is the] exercise and being outdoors, connecting to nature instead of sitting at home,” sophomore David Velasco said.

The spontaneity is one of the best parts of a picnic, which makes them unforgettable. Not knowing exactly where the end destination is, just relishing in the little moments of the experience is the best. The memories made on a last-minute decision are usually some of the fondest.

“I really like nature and picnics are always dramatized as something random and fun to do on a nice day,” junior Kaityln Franklin said.

Just being able to go out and enjoy the sun will make the week that much better. But, remember, it will not be around for long so get out there and make the most of it.
