Folk singer and songwriter Birdy is a petite teenager who recently put a phenomenal twist on “Skinny Love” by Bon Iver. She makes her second appearance in the music scene with a new album and a haunting voice that captures the ears of those who have their dripping hearts strung on a clothesline.

Birdy, whose real name is Jasmine van den Bogaerde, released her second studio album, Fire Within, in the United Kingdom on Sept. 23. This collection of pieces was drafted by her with the help of a few writers, unlike her cover-filled debut album of 2011.

In the end, Fire Within allows the 17-year-old folk singer to triumphantly satisfy the listeners, which consists of people ranging in ages 14 to late 40’s. Her songs evoke a particular sadness while blending in candied pitches to the perfect touch, for which some may call “bittersweet.”
