Michael Lindblad was named the Oregon state teacher of the year, ending a week of speculation about the purpose of today’s special assembly.
Special guests such as Gresham-Barlow School District Superintendent Jim Schlachter, State of Oregon Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction Rob Saxton, and Multnomah County Commissioner Diane McKeel came to congratulate Lindblad during the assembly.
“It tells us that there are many good teachers here,” Saxton said.
In the 2013-2014 school year, Lindblad was named Oregon state social studies teacher of the year by the Oregon Council for the Social Studies. This school year, Lindblad received this greater honor and $5,000.
“I want to thank the students of Gresham High School,” Lindblad said in his speech. “I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
