Twilight Saga comes to an end with Breaking Dawn Part 2

Twilight Saga comes to an end with Breaking Dawn Part 2

The_Twilight_Saga_Breaking_Dawn_Part_2_posterThe last of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2, was premiered at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. Getting into the theater was not a problem compared to previous years attended the midnight showing. From the whispers to the giggling inside the theater, everyone was eagerly waiting for the movie to begin yet still sad that the series was coming to an end.

“It was very exciting and everyone was clapping when it started,” junior Ana Martinez said.

All of the main characters returned from the previous films, which made this movie so much more emotional, especially being that and it was the last of it all.

“It was a good ending, but at the same time, it was like a reality check. Kind of because it’s like this is really the end of something great,” junior Sabrina Farley said. “It also reinforces the fact that all great things have to come to an end at some point.”

The movie followed the book Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. Those who did not read the book were left not knowing ahead of time what events were going to be taken place.

Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, evolves both emotionally and physically in the movie. Her new daughter, Renesmee, had impacted Bella’s character with her actions.

“It showed more of who her character was meant to be. It showed a more maternal side of her character and that she would do anything if it meant that her family would be safe,” Farley said.

Renesmee influenced the way Bella thought about life and the significance of living. Bella’s character not only revolved around the love for her husband Edward or her deep friendship with Jacob, but it also included her love for her sweet daughter. Bella and Renesmee had made it through a very difficult birth that was thought to be impossible. Renesmee withstood the fight of not being a normal human. Her birth was very hard on Bella and Renesmee’s health because of the fact that she was half vampire. Bella ate human food because she was human at the time, but it was not all that Renesmee needed. Renesmee’s body needed blood as well. The miracle of Renesmee being born and brought into the world has made her such an important character.

The Cullen family which includes Edward, Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, Carlisle and Esme had to go to other vampire friends that they knew for help when Bella and Renesme were put in danger.

Renesmee’s character really impacted the audience. She had a very sweet innocence that made her irresistible. Each vampire is given a gift and being that Renesmee is half vampire, she had the gift of transferring thoughts and memories to other people with the touch of her hand.

As Bella develops her character in the last movie of the series, her gift is shown and becomes a great help when it is needed during a critical time.

The movie was both exciting and nerve racking. The part of the movie that had most of the audience worried is when the director uses the fake reality idea, in which a scenario is shown and seems realistic, but in the end it turns out to be all fake. In the theater, many viewers were scared and sat on the edge of their seats awaiting the reality to come through.

Another example is when Alice has the power to see the future before it happens. The audience can be confused seeing her vision of the future before it happens and think it is real and did happen.

The characters in the fake reality part of the movie act and do things that make the audience startled. It makes the idea feel real as it goes on for a good portion of the movie.

The ending of the movie has gotten a lot of people talking. The movie does follow the book and the events that took place in the book, but seems to end in an unresolved way, making the audience want more.

“At the end of the book there were more goodbyes said between the main characters and the background characters than in the movie,” Farley said.

Although both Bella and Edward had changed and shown a more adult caring side to their characters, many still liked Jacob and his role in the movie.

“I liked Jacob because he’s cute and tan,” Martinez said. “He loved someone so much but let her go away because he loved her.”

The relationship between Bella and Edward is something that is unbreakable. Jacob in previous movies tried to convince Bella that she was meant to be with him. In the ending movie, he becomes more clear on the fact that Edward loves Bella and she loves Edward. Now that they are a married couple, it was made clear that Jacob was a good friend of Bella’s and that was it.

“He started forgiving Edward for being with Bella, “ freshman McKenzie Armstrong said.

Jacob’s character in Breaking Dawn Part 2 develops into someone who truly can care for the vampires apart from them being “cold-blooded”. He fought for the life of Bella and more importantly Renesmee. In the previous movie, Breaking Dawn Part 1 Jacob had held Renesmee for the first time and felt a connection. Bella did not know how deep this connection was until Edward told Jacob explain their connection.

The film had a definite ending to the series. Although the books and the movies will live on, it is placed in the past. The characters will always be special to those who grew so close while bonding with them in the deep reading of the novels and the great actors and actresses that played their roles.
